Wireless connection is one of the challenge I encounter if
troubleshooting connectivity problem. There are caller who doesn’t have an
Ethernet cable to test a wired connection. If the user are experiencing slow
connection on wireless signal but on the modem status its showing a good sync
or signal it only show that it could be an issue with the modem or line . One
of my colleague introduces a tool that would help me identify and explain much
further to the caller the main issue. Xirrus WI-Fi Inspector from the word
itself it inspects the
wireless signal within the network. The application can Search for WI-Fi Networks, Troubleshoot Connectivity Issue, Verify WI-Fi Coverage, Managing WI-Fi Connection, Locating WI-Fi Devices, Detecting Rouges APs, Verify AP Setting, Aiming WI-Fi antennas and WI-Fi education
The application is very detailed that a radar is shown and
graph to compare each signal. Certain requirements are needed to run the
program like Adobe Flash player and Microsoft.net Framework 2.0. Connection is
showing details like SSID, Channel, Signal, Type, Mac, IP, DNS and Gateway. The
network table will show all SSID network that is available using the table you
can determine the strongest signal and type of authentication.
It’s a useful tool for troubleshooting wireless connection
and using Xirrus Wi-Fi inspector it will lessen my call handling time.
